POSITION:
Extended Term Substitute-Elementary Literacy Intervention Teacher
LOCATION: Elementary Schools
DATES: Approximately January 25-April 25
RESPONSIBLE TO: Building Principals
SALARY/BENEFITS: Per terms of Teachers’ Master Agreement; $222 per day is the rate for the 2018-19 school year
Essential Functions
- Teach targeted literacy interventions to either small groups of students or individual students daily using research-based strategies and resources.
- Co-coordinate and facilitate the school’s literacy intervention programs.
- Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and writing intervention and support services.
- Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date management records of all students’ progress.
- Collaborate with teachers individually to identify the literacy needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth in literacy.
- Assist teachers with the collection of data, analysis of data results and supports the sharing of findings with all staff.
- Use MN State Standards/Benchmarks to write rigorous lesson plans at grade level, differentiating based on students’ levels when appropriate.
- Meet regularly with the classroom teachers to plan literacy instruction that correlates with the individual student’s needs.
- Conduct formative and summative assessment and provide accommodations for students as needed.
- Assist students using software and materials related to literacy programs.
- Attend professional development to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content, especially in the areas of literacy.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities related to literacy as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current Minnesota licensure
