TITLE: Middle School and Early Childhood (MSEC) Nurse
RESPONSIBLE TO: Health Services Coordinator, HMS Principal and ECFE Coordinator
General Duties:
Monday – Thursdays (9 AM – 1:15 PM) Provide nursing care in the HMS Health Office.
Most Fridays – Early Childhood Screening (8:30 AM to approximately 12:30 PM) and Preschool Immunization Documentation
HOURS/SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday per school calendar with additional hours before the start of school. There is potential for additional hours to go on field trips when a nurse is needed and in October/November in preparation for Eagle Bluff field trip.
RESPONSIBILITIES AS NURSE AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL
- Provide skilled nursing care and treatments (e.g. glucose testing, medication administration, nebulizer/inhaler treatments, etc.)
- Administer CPR and first aid.
- Maintain confidentiality and data privacy
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Maintain and update health records, immunization files, and records.
- Conduct health care assessment and decision making based on medical knowledge and licensure
- Assist Licensed School Nurse in the development and implementation of IEP, IHP, and other health planning for students under their license and direction.
- Third Party billing, tracking of hours that relate to special education (PARs)
- Potential for additional hours in October and November to prepare for 8th grade students to attend overnight Eagle Bluff fieldtrip
RESPONSIBILITIES AS NURSE FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD
- Vision Screening and review health related results with parents at Early Childhood Screening, document
- Work closely with LSN for follow up on students needing hearing and vision re-screening
- Review, update, and follow up on immunization and health records for students enrolled in Early Childhood programs including ECFE, ECSE, and preschool.
- Enter immunization data into database.
- Communicate with parents and staff as needed
SALARY/BENEFITS: Per terms of Nurse Contract
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse License, Current First Aid and CPR certification, Computer Literacy
